Fast Facts About Bülow

Megan Bülow, known as Bülow to fans, was born on Christmas Day, 1999 in Berlin Germany. From there, she moved to different countries throughout her childhood, eventually going on to live in Ontario, Canada, where her musical ability was discovered.

  • Bülow started busking at the young age of 11, living in England at the time. Her parents would get concerned about her whereabouts as the talented young musician would ride city buses while singing and playing the guitar.
  • At just eighteen, Bülow made her first hit song with “Not A Love Song,” a track that got over 20 million streams and Spotify and over a million views on its accompanying music video. After the release of the song, she played at a Brighton music festival called Great Escape to a massive crowd.
  • Bülow’s first EP, Damaged Vol. 1, features “Not A Love Song”, along with several other tracks. She followed up the EP with Vol. 2.
  • All of Bülow’s earliest recordings were released before her high school graduation, making her achievements even more impressive.
  • Bülow’s talent was first truly noticed when she was at summer camp as a 15-year-old. An A&R representative for a label happened to be at the camp, and they noticed Bülow’s singing voice and offered her a contract. She now releases music via Universal Music Canada and Republic Records.
  • Bülow’s debut EP was produced by Mike Wise, who had previously collaborated with artists like Allie X, Virginia to Vegas, and Scott Helman.
  • Before gaining international success, Bülow had to put in hours and hours of hard work. She attended writing sessions, spent days in the studio, and refined her craft with practice – all while completing high school.
  • Bülow’s net worth is currently estimated to be approximately 3 million dollars.
  • As a December baby, Bülow’s sign is Capricorn.
  • Bülow has been featured on songs by The Chainsmokers, Fall Out Boy, Alice Longyu Gao, Whethan, and Blitz/Berlin.

Living Room: Bülow’s Debut Album

In 2015, Bülow released Living Room, their debut studio album, via Warner Bros. Records. The siblings recorded all of the songs on the record at their apartment in Manhattan. The album’s credits attribute all of the production, songwriting, and even mixing to the Met Siblings, with the only aspect of the album’s creation that was outsourced being mastering. The album was mastered by Chris Gehringer, a renowned engineer who had previously worked with the likes of Drake, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga. Living Room features the singles “I’m Ready,” “Woody Allen,” “Infinity,” and “Thirsty.”

The Damaged EPs

Bülow’s first EPs, Damaged Vol. 1 and 2, were released in 2017 and 2018, respectively.  One of the most noteworthy songs of the six tracks is “You & Jennifer,” a song written from the perspective of a jilted lover to her ex and his new love interest. The track has gained tens of millions of plays on Spotify, and it was later re-released as “You & Jennifer (The Other Side)” featuring Rich the Kid.  “Not a Love Song,” the biggest hit from the Damaged EPs, was certified 2x Platinum and peaked at No. 32 on the Canadian charts. The track helped to make Bülow a star, setting the stage for more successful releases to come.  After the release of Damaged Vol. 2, Bülow came out with “Two Punks in Love,” a single that went Platinum and peaked at No. 57 on the Canadian charts.

Crystalline

In 2019, Bülow followed up the Damaged EPs with Crystalline, a seven-track EP released via Wax, Republic, and Universal Music Canada. The EP features the single “Get Stüpid,” a party anthem that racked up millions of streams. The EP also includes “FINE,” “Euphoria,” “Sweet Little Lies,” and several other tracks. “Sweet Little Lies” went Platinum and hit No. 58 on the Canadian charts.

The Contender

In late 2019, Bülow released her fourth EP, The Contender. This collection of five songs includes “Puppy Love,” which features Jimi Somewhere, “Own Me,” “Boys Will Be Boys,” and more.

Lost & More

In late 2020, Bülow released a cover of Frank Ocean’s “Lost.” Originally a track from Frank’s hit album Channel Orange, Bülow’s reworking of the song is haunting and emotional. The cover is built on vocals and acoustic guitar, with sparse samples and production elements cutting in to add to the ambient feel.  In 2021, Bülow released two singles – “First Place” and “Revolver,” both of which are set to reappear on an upcoming album or EP.  Still young and already extremely successful, Bülow clearly has a bright career ahead of her. She has already toured with Lauv, earned the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and become a mainstay on pop radio. However, it’s easy to tell that she’s just getting started, and there’s plenty more to come from the young Canadian singer.
