  • Coi’s parents split up after a pivotal moment in her father’s career. Not long after, she started making music at just 14 years old.
  • As a 16-year-old, Coi dropped out of high school and continued working on music. She got a job in sales to support herself but eventually quit to pay more attention to her musical aspirations.

How Coi Made it Big

  • In 2017, Coi put out “G.A.N.,” her first single, on Soundcloud. The track got noticed by locals in her area, but it wasn’t until her next single that she started to break out of the Hackensack, NJ bubble. “Huddy,” along with the mixtape Everythingcoz, came out in 2018, and that was the year that things started picking up for Coi Leray as a rapper.
  • After dropping her first mixtape, Coi was featured on the song “Save the Day” Ski Mask the Slump God and Jacquees. The track was included on the critically-acclaimed soundtrack for the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This was Coi’s first high-profile feature, and she gained a far bigger audience thanks to the success of the film and album.
  • After Coi was featured on the soundtrack for Into the Spider-Verse, she got her deal with 1801 Records and Republic. Through them, she released EC2, her sophomore mixtape. Afterwards, she supported rapper Trippie Redd on his 2019 tour.
  • In 2020, Coi collaborated with rapper Fetty Wap, along with actress Keke Palmer. In August of the same year, she put out her first EP, Now or Never.

“No More Parties”: Coi’s First Platinum-Selling Single

The track made it to No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time Coi ever scored a spot on the charts.
  • “No More Parties” was co-written by Coi, Jamaal Henry, and Tae Hyung Koo. Production was handled by Maaly Raw and Okaykhan.

  • The verse provided by Lil Durk on the remix seems to be addressed at 6ix9ine, another rapper who has major beef with Durk. The verse also shouts out Durk’s girlfriend, India Royale.
  • Reel Goats directed a music video for the remixed version of the song, which was released in March 2021. The video depicts Leray kicking people out of her house after coming home to discover that her friends threw a raucous party while she was gone.
