Biography

Lost Frequencies is the stage name used by Felix De Laet, a deep house DJ from Brussels, Belgium. Born on November 30, 1993, the artist’s best-known tracks are his remix of “Are You With Me,” which won at the ECHO Award Ceremony for the categories of ‘Hit of the Year’ and ‘Dance International’ in 2016, and “Where Are You Now” featuring Calum Scott, a track from 2021.

Felix’s sound is often compared to fellow chart-dominators like The Chainsmokers, Major Lazer, and other chart-topping DJs from the past half-decade. He’s earned numerous accolades throughout his career and proven himself to be one of the fastest-rising talents in the European electronic music scene. Felix is continuing to build up momentum in the 2020s, and he’s far from a one-trick pony. He’s recently made waves with collaborations with Zonderling, James Blunt, and others, as well as remixes for Labrinth, Sia, Diplo, Miley Cyrus, and more.

Since the start of his career a few years back, Felix has hit several major milestones. He had his debut entry on the DJ mag poll back in 2017, when he had the highest new entry of any artist that year. He’s played sold-out shows in his hometown of Brussels, toured with The Chainsmokers, and become a chart-topper in the international music industry.

Lost Frequencies: The Early Years

Belgian DJ Felix De Laet's first release under the moniker Lost Frequencies was a remix of the American country singer Easton Corbin's song "Are You With Me," a track that had previously been released on Corbin's 2012 album. Felix's version of the song became a major smash hit, reaching Platinum status in multiple countries. The remix made Felix the first Belgian artist to create a number-one hit in the UK.  The global smash remix, originally uploaded to Soundcloud, was later discovered by Armada Music representatives, who signed Felix and re-released the song on October 27, 2014. The song made it to the top of the charts in several countries throughout Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Turkey, and Norway.

"Beautiful Life" and More

In June of 2016, Lost Frequencies put out his second single, "Beautiful Life." The song features vocals from Sandro Cavazza, who also co-wrote the track. It made it to the top of the charts in Belgium, where it was certified double platinum by the BEA. On October 7, 2016, Lost Frequencies released "What Is Love 2016," a rework of the Haddaway song from 1993. His version of the track was later featured on his debut album, Less Is More.

Lost Frequencies' First Album

Less Is More is the first full-length record in Lost Frequencies' discography. The album features all of the singles that the DJ had released up to that point, as well as several other tracks. Musical guests on the album include Janieck Devy, Joakim Wilow, Nick Schilder, and Axel Ehnström. A few years after the album's release, Lost Frequencies put out an official remix of "Cold Water," a song by Major Lazer, Justin Bieber, and MØ.

Alive and Feeling Fine and More Recent Releases

Felix's next album, Alive and Feeling Fine, was released on October 4, 2019. The record was released via Armada, Mostiko, and the artist's own label, Found Frequencies, and it features several singles, including "Crazy," "Melody" with James Blunt, "Truth Never Lies" with Aloe Blacc, "Like I Love You" with The NGHBRS, and more.  The artist's sophomore album was his first release through Found Frequencies, a label that he launched with help from Armada Music. Since then, Felix has made it his goal to use the label as a launching point for other musicians in the house and EDM genres.  After the release of Alive and Feeling Fine, Lost Frequencies spent time riding the festival circuit around the world, making live appearances at Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Coachella, and numerous other major events. Throughout the remainder of 2019 and the start of 2020, Felix spent time remixing tracks by some of the biggest names in the music industry. In the last two years, Lost Frequencies has put out remixes of songs by Stromae, Martin Garrix, Alan Walker, Dmitri Vegas, Jax Jones, and many more.  Felix also released his second EP, Cup of Beats, in July 2020 via Armada. That project’s biggest hit was “Love to Go,” a song with Zonderling and Kelvin Jones that features intimate acoustic guitars juxtaposed with a tropical house beat.

Making a Hit with Calum Scott

On July 30, 2021, Felix released his first collaboration with British singer Calum Scott, “Where Are You Now.” Released via Epic Records, the song was co-written by Felix, Dag Lundberg, Joacim Bo Persson, Michael Patrick Kelly, and Sebastian Arman. Felix co-produced the track with Lorna Blackwood, and it went on to chart in numerous countries around the world.
