Quinton Griggs: Quick Facts About the Music

”Chaos!”

Quinton released his debut single, “Chaos!” in June 2021. The song features Quinton sing-rapping over a trap-style beat. Written by Quinton, Jackson Morgan, and Eric Ron, the song has an accompanying music video that was directed by Kristen Jan Wong. The video features Quinton skating, rapping, and engaging in other antics in a home video-style collage of shots. Released under the name QVE, “Chaos!” explodes into a pop-punk chorus, blending the genre with the rap and trap of the verses. The song features a reference to Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 hit “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” with Quinton referring to the Compton rapper by his nickname “K-Dot.” In the song, saying, “Feel like K-dot he was right, he said ‘bitch don’t kill my vibe,” yeah, especially when I’m high, I feel like I’m gonna die.” The track’s storyline documents a wild night in which Quinton has sex with a girl after a cocaine dinner. He can’t remember the girl’s name and acknowledges his forgetfulness in a tongue-in-cheek manner. In the chorus, he gives a shout-out to his self-destructive behaviors, describing how he’ll text his ex-girlfriends to spite them, get in fights with friends, and oblige the devil in him. The anthemic chorus ends with the line, “Fuck with me, this is what you get – chaos.” The song was featured on an Audio Chateau compilation titled Prom in Hell, which also includes the work of other TikTok stars, including Nessa Barrett, JXDN, Sueco, Yoza, and others. Quinton’s music as QVE is largely an extension of the bad boy persona that he embodies on TikTok. His fans love his wild side, and Quinton is ready and willing to embrace that aspect of his personality in his songs. “Chaos!” is thus far his only single, but he is planning on more releases in the future, including collaborations with JXDN.
